The Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital is part of the new Munich Child Health Alliance, which comprises scientists and doctors from LMU, TUM, the Max Planck Society and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. Together, they are committed to researching serious and still incurable diseases in children and adolescents.
The Munich scientists have developed new methods for cultivating human bone marrow in the laboratory. A microscopic analysis device is now needed so that the effectiveness of innovative immunological strategies for eliminating leukemia cells can be investigated in the laboratory before the therapy is used clinically in children.
This research program enables sick children to participate in medical progress. It opens up new perspectives for a better quality of life and hope for a cure.
